snap shots from Term 2

Wow! Term 2 has just flown by!  I've been up to so much and I absolutely love it. The first significant thing in this term has definitely been the DNA February residential that I went to. I just experienced Gods love in such a fresh way.  I prayed through a lot of things and It felt so freeing.  I got excited about the fact that I’m living my life for him and after that it was 'Bring it on God!' I would describe it like this, I now  no longer feel as if I'm in a race that I can't keep up in, But actually I'm in first place with God cheering me to the finish line. This also means I now want to get the best and go for gold! God is just awesome and everything I’m learning about him is phenomenal.

I also went to the Pioneer leader’s conference with the church which was fantastic. Something I really took from it was an analogy about Fear. The Speaker spoke about how scarecrows only work because crows are stupid! If the Crowe looked at the scarecrow in a different way it would see that it is actually an advertisement saying 'Hey look over here, there are crops to be had' and it is exactly the same with Fear. We need to see it as an advertisement saying 'Something amazing could be just about to happen'. I came away encouraged and challenged by this!

I've also been involved with all the same things from term one, such as the toddlers group and schools work. All of this is going so well! God is so good.  It's great to be at the stage now where I feel as If I really know everyone. Some great conversations, lots of laughter and fun have been had. One of the ladies that Goes to our Toddler Group has met up for coffee a few times and is thinking about doing Our Christianity Explored course. Exciting times.

Before Easter I also helped run the Children’s Holiday Club with Hannah. We did an Olympics theme called 'On your Marks' and our theme song was about running the race for God. It was a busy and fun time. We had about 20 children turn up each day which was great, some children had come along from last Easter but some had come as a result of us doing Puppet shows and dramas in the schools assemblies this term. All of which have been greatly received with the head teacher asking us to come back.  I Didn’t expect to be dressing up as an inspector prancing around the stage to the pink panther music this term! At least the Kids loved it.

Spring Harvest was Phenomenal as well. I was on the 8-11's team, which meant leading a group of 18 kids for 7 days morning and evening; it was tiring but such a privilege to journey along side them all. Lots of children decided they wanted to be Christians and felt Gods love for the first time. We had some amazing times of prayer together; in one of the session we were teaching about healing and then encouraged the children to pray. One little Girl who was blind in one eye regained sight! Amazing!

A few weeks ago me and a friend from DNA were just worshipping together on a day off at church. I was writing a song about how everyone is invited to Gods table. I kept singing over the line 'Goodness and love welcomes all' a few seconds later a Chinese man walked in, He spoke very little English at all, after much trying to figure out what he might want,   he said he just wanted to sit and listen to us. He also took a  church card etc but It was so cool that he just wanted to join us while we worshipped God.

As a church we also pray on top of radar Hill each Wednesday which over looks the town. This is just a time when we want to declare Gods blessing. We also go into the town centre and pray afterwards. A few weeks ago I took my Guitar with me to the bandstand and we just worshipped for an hour together. It was awesome. It was great to see people’s responses to us singing 'He loves you'. I really did feel as if stuff was changing.
I love looking back and thinking about all the exciting things I’ve been involved with!

Thank you so much for everyone who is keeping me in their prayers. I would really appreciate you continuing to do so as I approach term 3.

Term 1

Hi everyone, here is a quick update on how things are going!
First of all I would like to thank everyone for your support so far, both prayerfully and financially. It’s been amazing.
DNA gang
I’ve been in Essex for 3 months now and I’m enjoying it so much. New Life Church is based in Wickford, but has also planted a church in south Woodham ferrers early last year. I am involved in projects that both churches are running. Everyone is so passionate for God and very encouraging.
DNA
I’ve made so many friends and the Team are incredible. Every 3 weeks or so I am travelling to Bromley to have my ‘ 2 day blocks’ where I get to catch up with everyone else who is doing the course and have lots of brilliant teaching on a range of topics.  I’m learning so much and I really look forward to them. I am also completing study worksheets on different areas, such as ‘Worship’ or ‘Spiritual Gifts’. This makes up two of my days each week. It’s great to be learning about something that I’m really interested in and I can already see how much God is developing me through it all.

New Life Church
Where to start, there is so much going on! I am involved with so many different things from week to week.
Schools work
Hannah and I go into 2 different schools on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. We run a lunch time club where the children come and play games and we help with a CU in another school that has sixth form. We also run an afterschool club where we discuss our faith as well as play games. It’s been so amazing to see how they are all changing, even in the few weeks I’ve been here. We have had some really good chats with the children. One week we discussed ‘do miracles still exist’ the next week we talked about how words can be powerful and how Jesus wants us to use words that encourage each other. It’s great to see that even though they don’t believe in God (yet) they are so engaged and interested in all we have to say.
Little Sparks

Carribean party!
NLC are also joint running a toddlers and mothers morning with the local children’s centre. This is full on but fantastic. So many mothers and their children turn up every Wednesday morning for ‘Little Sparks’. it is a safe and fun environment for people to meet others in the area and feel supported. At the end of the session we also have a bible story and sing a Christian song, I think it’s a great way to introduce children, as well as the mothers to God’s character, without coming across in an overwhelming way.
Some of us in the church also pray in the town centre every Thursday, this has been challenging but I’m so glad that I’m working with people who are bold and prepared to be actively showing their love for Jesus. There is also a ‘young peoples’ cell group that I’m part of. It’s a social time where we join together to worship and study the bible. I have also helped with a service at a home for the mentally ill; it was so touching to see people praise God in some really tough situations. I’m also part of a ministry called ‘third choice’ where we just want to bless the community, last week we went and handed out coffees to taxi drivers and prayed for one man, the response has been great. Also helped with car washing on a Saturday morning, in another attempt to just love people. As a church we also decided we wanted to do something alternative around the time of Halloween so we had a Caribbean party! It’s so much fun being in a church made up of people from different cultures!

I feel really content in where I’ve been placed and I’m so excited for my year ahead. There’s alot I’m involved with and it’s hard work but the church is so supportive.

New Life Church is an exciting place to be! Bring on Term 2 !
